Pink Fringe Leather Boots

These pink fringe boots scream Cinderella Tea Party, 2011. I love them, I couldn't wear them, but think they are hot!

This fabulous fringe was made on My Own Fringemaker, a fabulous embellishing system!  You will save a lot of money making your own fringe and add it to your boots!

I had no problem sewing the faux leather header to make the fringe. ( FYI, Western Chaps with fringe will be next.)

Supplies needed:
My Own Fringemaker, **enough leather string to make the suede fringe you need. {I used 10 yards}, Soft tulle 3" x 22" long. Straight stitch threaded sewing machine, and glue that adheres to leather, I used  572 in tube. Two or three clip clothes pins. Adorable boots to add fringe onto.

** Narrow leather is sold in hobby and sewing stores by the yard or 50 yard spools.

How I made the fringe:
Set up My Own Fringemaker. On rotator arms, insert one rod in second holes and other rod  in the sixth holes. This was the length of fringe I wanted for the boots.

Tie leather knot loosely onto one rod. Wind on gently to the length you need. Use built in ruler in base for winding measurement.
Remove whole rod unit and take to straight stitch sewing machine. I moved needle to far left position.

Adjust to the longest stitch length.

Place one end of tulle under the area you will sew the header and fold tulle onto the top of rod unit,  folding towards your starting stitches.
I liked having the tulle top and bottom to prevent any leather string getting caught in feed dogs.

Repeat stitching reduce stitch length to 3 or 4 and stitch again.
Remove rod unit from under the presser foot and take to work table.

Decide if you want fringe loose {short or long} or looped fringe?
For longer loose fringe, cut one layer string of leather just below header stitching for longer fringe.
Once you glue the fringe to boot you can trim fringe shorter if it is too long for your liking.

Apply glue carefully, it could stain your leather if it slops over the edges.
I use a toothpick and apply glue carefully.
Let glue tack up and attach to boot cuff. Hold in place with clip clothespins until dry.

Once glue dries - dress up, wear your fabulous boots and you're ready for town ~

• I prefer to cover header stitching, you may not.
• I used one string of leather to cover stitching on looped suede fringe and
• braided three strings of leather to cover header stitching on loose suede fringe; both styles of fringe boots are hot!
