How-To-make fringe for your nightgown:
Choose your yarns and ribbons. I used green eyelash yarn.
Set up My Own Fringemaker and simply wind yarn[s] onto the rods.
Straight stitch the header, remove the rods and attach fringe to nightgown.
I sewed the fringe onto the gown with sewing machine. Starting from side seam across the front, following neckline contours, ending at other side seam all with a straight stitch. Very easy to do!

I purchased this pink top on clearance for $2.00 then added fringe around the neck line and sleeves.
The result is an inexpensive shirt embellished with fringe looks like the pricey shirts from a boutique.
LoLicious yarn has little balls, after creating fringe it was too thick and lumpy - I didn't want to sew through it.
Using permanent fabric glue I attached the fringe to neckline and sleeves.

Classic Black Sweater Fringe is Removable!
This was my very first sweater to add fringe trim onto.
How I could show you a hundred sweaters with hundred different types of fringe?
Where would I store all these sweaters? - - - that's when I came upon the idea of detatchable fringe.
- First the fringe was attached with pins,
- next hook and eye tape (never use velcro™, the hook and loop stuff) and
- finally snap tape, ahhh yes snap tape!
How to extend your wardrobe with one sweater?
- first, wear this sweater without fringe,
- now create cut fringe and snap on for a completely different look.
- make a second fringe trim in your favorite team colors and snap on - resulting in a completely different look for game day.

Fringe T-Shirt and Fringe Jeans, Refresh, Renew, Recycle Child's Outfit
My granddaughter didn't want these good-looking slightly worn jeans or the embroidered shirt, both hand-me- downs. She said, "I could have them!" The long sleeve T-shirt was previously embroidered.
For a new style, I created fringe made with pink and white yarns. Machine stitched the fringe onto shirt hemline. The appliqued jeans still had a lot of life; by adding fringe trim to the pockets, the jeans went from cute to cuter! This is a simple, simple, simple project. You have enough yarns and ribbons in your stash to do this!
She took one look at the updated top and jeans and with excitement yelled, "AWESOME! " jumping up and down. She tried the two pieces on immediately. Sometimes the two pieces are worn as an outfit other times she mixes and match the pieces with something else. Fringe trim is a good formula for extending a wardrobe, definitely wardrobe survival for all ages. Reuse, Recycle, update your fashion for any age with fringe and tassels.
By the way, I am only allowed to borrow this two piece blue jean outfit when I go to trade shows...how about this for turn around? People at my shows love this outfit make over! DYI , T-Shirt Fringe Dress Sewn by Janeen D. of Texas
This is an amazing fast and fabulous T-Shirt Dress trimmed with fringe trim!
Janeen purchased My Own Fringemaker on Thursday at Houston Festival. Friday morning she returned to show us the perfect fringe T-Shirt dress. After all the ooooo's and ahhhhh's from admirers -Janeen bought our last fringemaker for her Mother who also had to have My Own Fringemaker.
How to make fringe: Measure the chest of person wearing the T-shirt dress so you know how much fringe to make.
Supplies needed: My Own Fringemaker, threaded, straight stitch sewing machine, scissors, yarn of choice, t-shirt and fabric of choice.
Set up fringe maker. Wind on yarns to width you need.
First place rods about three inches apart in the rotator rods.
Knot the end of the yarn around one rod and wind on as much length as you need for your fringe trim.
Remove rod unit from base and take whole rod unit to sewing machine.
Slip one rod under the presser foot. Center presser foot between both rods; straight stitch down the center between rods several times, creating your fringe header.
Remove the whole rod unit from under the presser foot and take back to work table.
Cut the yarn from both rods, this makes cut fringe.
Sew the T-shirt and fabric together to make your dress.
Attach cut fringe by sewing (or use fabric glue) by matching the header stitching to the t-shirt and dress seam.
Sew (or glue) the fringe on top of seam between shirt and skirt. DONE! Just that easy - make a couple and email us photos for the Gallery!
Janeen allowed us to display her T-Shirt dress all day Friday in the booth. She wanted to show people how easy it was to make fringe in minutes. Janeen told us she was so inspired to make fringe, on her way home, she stopped at JoAnn's Fabric Store, bought yarn and went home to make this T-shirt fringe dress for her darling daughter. Janeen also added a peacock design to the front of the T-Shirt.
A giant thank you goes out to her daughter for sharing her brand new dress with everyone BEFORE she could even wear it. Isn't she one lucky little girl to have both a Mom and GrandMom sewing and creating fringe for her. I think though, they'll have to move over and share My Own Fringe maker with her too. Fringe Jacket , Belaro Leopard Print updated with Fringe - Recycling
Animals prints remain a fashion basic. Sometimes a garment needs a little embellishing to make a fresh fashion statement.
Using a combination of three yarns - black with sparkle, black plus brown, I wound all three yarns on to the rods at the same time to make fringe trim.
You'll need to measure around the cuffs to know much decorative fringe to make. The sleeve cuffs requires 20" ,enough for both fringe trims on the cuffs.
To make fringe, set up the fringe maker and place rods in rod unit approximately 3" apart and tie the ends and wind on.
Remove the rod unit and take to the sewing machine.
Slide one rod unit under the presser foot. Move rod unit so presser foot is centered between the rods.
Straight stitch down the center [between the rods] several times to create a header.
Remove the rod unit from under the presser foot and carry whole rod unit to your table.
I wanted loose ended, cut fringe verses looped fringe, so I cut the fringe off the rods.
Next step, sew or glue the decorative cut fringe onto cuffs. The fringe makes the bolero slightly more sporty and easily extends it's usefulness for another season! Here is a great example of reuse, revamp and recycle... very easy on the budget compared to purchasing a new fringe jacket. It's very easy to make fringe trims, you can do this and you'll have all the bragging rights to go with it!

Fringe Collar - decorative collar is removable ! Create one yourself!
Are you always looking for the best way to update your wardrobe without over spending? Everyone loves a bargain - and when you create it for pennies you are far ahead of budget restraints!
A simple plain knit sweater gets an upgrade by adding a fringe collar. Fringe trims can update wardrobe basics in a heart beat!
Measure around the neckline to determine how many inches of trim fringe you'll need to make.
Choose yarns and ribbons in colors and textures to make your fringe accent your item. The yarn used for this fringe collar is mini ladder yarn.
How to make fringe like this:
Supplies you'll need:
My Own Fringemaker, threaded straight stitch sewing machine, safety pins for attaching the collar (or use our snap tape), tape measure, scissors.
- Set up the fringe maker. Place rods 4" apart.
- Tie the ends of your yarns on to a rod and start winding onto the rods.
- DO NOT HOLD THE YARNS as you wind - this creates too much tension, instead gently guide the yarns down the rods as you wind on the yarns.
- Use our ruler to watch how much you are winding on.Once you have enough fringe for collar, cut the yarns ends, and knot onto rod.
- Remove rod unit from base and take to sewing machine. Slide one rod under the presser foot and position rod unit so the presser foot will be centered between the two rods.
- SLOW the sewing machine speed down if you can. Lengthen the stitch to 5.
- Lower presser foot and start straight stitching down the center between the rods. Now You are creating fringe!
Repeat the stitching process several times. With each pass shorten the stitch length, this will help the needle catch the fringe fibers missed on previous stitching passes.
Once you have stitched the fringe header several times. Lift presser foot and remove the whole rod unit from under the presser foot,
now take the whole rod unit to your work surface.
Next remove one rotator arm and slide your fringe off the rods, resulting in a decorative fringe, known as looped fringe.
Pin the collar on to your garment or make a real necklace attaching a fastener = DONE. Now smile big!
Make a second decorative fringe collar in other colors or with different yarns and ribbons and you'll have a completely different look!
Making fringe is a huge budget saver - use what you have to make fringe trim. Make several fringe collars to coordinate with more garments in your wardrobe this will extend your wardrobe in a huge way for pennies.
Let the fashion show begin, Put the collar on, show it off, wow your friends, remove your fringe and reattach a different fringe collar to create another look, hit the run way again! They'll be begging you to create collars for them too!

Denim Jean Shorts fringe by Dee
"I would love for you to post the denim fringe blue jeans," says Dee
Are your kids growing so fast you can't keep them in clothes? Does the high cost of kids clothing drive you nuts?
Take a look at how Dee used fringe to update summer shorts.
Her instructions are:
The only yarn I used was multi-colored and had fringe lashes.
I used 1 ball of yarn.
I used the narrowest rod setting. Then secured it by sewing 2 channels through the center.
The finished fringe was 1/2 the winding width and I had not cut the loops, which I was afraid would ravel.
I cut between the 2 center channels. I ended up with twice as much as I thought I would and it turned out to be enough to also do the pockets.
It took about an hour to set up My Own Fringemaker and wind on the yarn the first time.
Sewing the channels securely took about 45 min. I stitched the fringe onto the shorts from Goodwill, with my sewing machine and that took about 30 minutes.
The butterflies on the right leg were original to the shorts. They were stamped on, had that sort of rubbery stuff. 3/4 of the glitter stones had disappeared. I replaced the stones on the right leg. The left leg and back pocket original butterflies were 90% gone, so I scrapped off what was left and applied my own butterflies from some fabric I had. Then embellished them with stones and glitter paint.
I purchased my fringe maker at Sally's super store before it closed.

The sample Jackets pictured were constructed using home dec fabrics. The jackets were trimmed with beautiful fringe and made interchangeable using Snap Tape.
The use of Snap Tape is what makes this pattern unique. By sewing one side of Snap Tape onto the jacket and the other side onto your trim; the trim can be removed and replaced with a different fringe. Removable trim allows you to change the jacket look and style as often as your mood changes!
If you want to save more money than you spend on your clothing wardrobe, this is VERY CLEVER AND Very budget conscious!!
Snap Tape makes it easy to remove the trim for cleaning the jacket. Removing the fringe before cleaning keeps the trim looking great.

Add the trimmings
Have some PJ's that need some new life? Just add your own trimmings, how fun!
I purchased these at Walmart, knowing they were too long and thought with fringe I ' could cute them up'
I scalloped the top hem and added 1" cut fringe.
The pants were cut shorter by two inches - then trimmed the legs into a U shape .
I created custom fringe and sewed it onto the pants starting at the side seams.
If you need a no brainer project - this is it - easy and fun!

The outfit is so precious and the individual pieces can be coordinated with other clothing to 'cute up' other outfits.
