Lamp Shade, fringed creates Decorator Look

upgrading lamp shades is easy to do with My Own Fringemaker

Have you noticed how pricey the decorator lamp shades are? Buying one is like making a mortgage payment and that hurts!
Isn't this mini lamp too cute?

Introducing My Own Fringemaker, a newly patented tool that lets you make fringe and tassels like the professionals for pennies on the dollar!

Why not jazz up a bed side table lamp with adorable custom fringe?  Think about hostess gifts too.

Lamp height is approximately 12".  Purchased at JoAnn Fabrics on sale.

To duplicate this fringed lamp shade look you'll need:

  • mini lamp and shade,  My Own Fringemaker, threaded straight stitch sewing machine, fabric glue and your choice of 1/8" ribbon.
  • Measure lampshade so you know how many inches of fringe you will need to wind on the rods.
  • Use ruler on base as you wind.

Using 1/8" ribbon in cocoa color,  I created 1" looped fringe.

  • Place rods in closest holes and stitch down center between the rods.
  • Remove rod unit from underneath the presser foot and carry to your work table.  Remove rotator arms leave fringe on rods.
  • Apply slight bead of glue to header stitching and to underside of lamp shade, let both tack up.
  • Remove fringe from rods and
  • press fringe onto under side of lamp shade.    Easy easy!

IDEA:  Change out your shades seasonally and add different fringe trim for variation.
