What can I use to make fringe or tassels?
When using My Own Fringemaker, if you can easily wind materials onto the rods, you can probably make fringe or tassels, cool huh?
Make fringe or tassels with ribbon, yarn, string, STRAND, jute, fabric strips, faux leather or faux seude. It must wind easily onto the rods.

How much does it cost to make fringe?
Now that you are the proud owner of My Own Fringemaker or you soon will be; you'll be surprised at how incredibly cheap making fringe is. Cost depends on the materials you choose. Practice with yarns and ribbons you have on hand, discover the varieties length, texture,looped, loose etc. you can make. Use materials from your stash, combined they make some pretty exciting trims.
IDEA: Always check out the clearance and sale racks for yarns and ribbons. Buy all you find, you 'll use more unusual combinations and be very pleased at the results when you have a stash to play with! If yarn and ribbon is on sale - I buy it no matter the color and textures.
Think about future projects and gifts you plan make. You will use it to create custom fringe. It's fun and addicting to mix and match from a variety of colors and textures. You'll find yourself combining colors and textures like never before to make fantastic fringe. If you have a decent stash of yarns and ribbons you'll be surprised at the combinations you'll come up with - you are only limited by your imagination. A few times I've had a pile of mismatched yarns and ribbons on the table for one reason or another; eyeing the combinations of odd colors and textures I made the most incredible unique fringe I had not even considered before and you wil too! It's so fun to experiment, if you don't like it, unwind it from the rods, stick it back into your stash and start again mixing colors and textures.
How to calculate the cost to make fringe? One sample:
If yarn cost $5.00 with 70 yards in the skein.
If you use 35 yards (half the yarn) for fringe it would cost $2.50;
if your ribbon cost $5.00 (25 yards on spool this is $.20 p/yd.)
If you use 17 yards (17 yds X $.20 = $3.40)
cost for the project is:
$ 2.50 for the yarn
+ $3.40 for ribbon
$5.90 fringe cost custom fringe, a steal!
